There are so many dance genres these days with the word “funk” in them, but truth say, we’re not hearing the funk. At Soulstream we think it’s time to remind you what real funk sounds like, and who better to do so than one of the O.G.’s of fusing funk and house together (Quadrasonic & Sexy Lady back in 2000), and one of the best talk box players in the world.

Thus and therefore we bring you Suges’ Jam, another in the ongoing series of Sugestramentals. Suges offers up a lush, funky party track rife with analog synths, wah guitars, violins, a harmonium, and layer upon layer of talk box action.

Remixers include Mr. Gene King with an incredibly grooving reconstruction and Martino and his jazzy organ and synths from outer space. THE JANUARY MIX 2010 [PodOmatic Exclusive]

As many know, I actually started DJing about 10 years back. With crates & shoe boxes of reggae music. Something that allowed me to gauge my audience was the birth of online streaming which became popular around 1999-2000 with the birth of “Shoutcast” a small plugin that would work in conjunction with “Winamp”.. The Problem with this method was simple.. People would connect directly to the DJ’s IP. So After about 30 listeners, unless the DJ dramatically dropped the quality of the stream the listeners would experience frequent buffer drop outs.
Fastforward 8-9 years, enter USTREAM. This popular website has taken the web world by storm. Being used by some of the biggest names in the industry, including P. Diddy, & Ashton Kutcher, who broadcast live regularly giving their viewers a behind the scenes look at anything from a Studio session, to a race to 1 million users on Twitter.
Unlike the traditional method I will be using this service to stream live audio from “The Lab”.. As of now there are no set times on when they will occur, but set times should be decided upon shortly. First off, I’ve added a “Share” button on my podcasts, feeds, and pages. Clicking on this button will allow you to share content from JoonyaT.com to almost all of you favourite social networks, as well as the option to E-Mail the posting to friends! However I still have not gotten around to tweaking it to work properly in IE. So for now, it only works for users who use FireFox and any other browser except IE.

Secondly, I have added a facebook connector for my website. What’s that mean ?

Well to make it simple. Everytime I post something new here weather its a blog, a new podcast mix, photos, ect. It will automatically post a message on my facebook wall so that all of my users on facebook will be in the INSTANT loop.

There will be times throughout the next few weeks where my website may look weird, or have some content missing. This will only happen for a short period of time, and be sure that my website wouldn’t be left messy overnight. So bare with me!

I guess i was looking for the right inspiration to get me started. What turned into a regular “post mix” process turned into an instant mess!! As many of you know I make a monthly mix dedicated to deep & soulful house. Like every other mix, there are outlets that I use to promote my mix mainly Facebook & Email.

Long story short, I sent a message to “All Members” of one of my groups on facebook and they flagged it as “spam”. When in fact a lot of my listeners rely on that method to know when something new is available. So as I was sending out the message to the group with over 3000+ members as I would normally do, I was abruptly logged out automatically and asked to login. Only to be told my account was disabled.

Now don’t get me wrong, I realize that 3000+ messages may seem mighty “spammish” but you need to understand I was made admin to do that very thing. Along with the fact that a button to “Message All Members” even exists in a group of that size had me in disbelief that I was in fact disabled. But even after sending an email explaining the situation I am still yet to hear a responce.

And So, The Rebuild began.

  The real significant change on JoonyaT.com is the BRAND NEW PODCAST! That’s right, no more worrying about if I have enough space to upload a new podcast on one of those other “Free” podcasting services. Don’t get me wrong they are good for your average podcaster, but for someone like myself who releases so many mixes that at times its hard to keep up, this is AMAZING..Podcasting is exactly like “Blogging” except it involves AUDIO and not text only. Most people are using iTunes by now (still not a fan by the way) to download & listen to thier podcasts, but there are still other podcast “grabbers” out there that will do the same thing without the resource slowdown.
